Saito Hiroko is no stranger to tokusatsu fans, especially JINZOU NINGEN KIKAIDA fans. As Togawa Hikari, she was stuck in a booby-trapped elevator with a flute-tormented Jiro in episode 4, "The evil Blue Buffalo sets a trap". In episode 29, already a little taller and playing the role of Kaoru, she joined with Masaru (during the "Red shoes" story arc) in pledging to go to a world of their own making, just for children, without any adults. Their beautiful, innocent plans are shattered when Kaoru realises how much she loves and misses her father. These episodes can be ordered on DVD through generationkikaida.com. American audiences later became familiar with her sweet young innocent face through reruns of Mystery Science Theater 3000. In one episode, this show featured the 1987 Sandy Frank movie "TIME OF THE APES", culled from several episodes of her series SARU NO GUNDAN (Army of the Apes) into a condensed feature with mixed results. The movie was released in America straight to VHS video and can still be found in used video stores around the country.
